Meet Our Teachers

Our instructors are experienced, charismatic, and diligent on behalf a every student. We only pair our students with the most qualified teachers in each field, and they have been invaluable towards students' growth and success.

USACO Teachers

Mr. Darek L

Mr. Darek obtained his bachelors and masters from a top technical university in China, having gained extensive research experience and served as a quantitative trader for 20+ years at prominent Wall Street hedge funds. He has mentored numerous students in competitive programming, helping them achieve major contest success in all three languages of Java, Python, and C++.

Mr. Alex

Mr. Alex graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Statistics from Top Ivy School. He served as a principal software engineer at IBM and then at Director of Engineering at a FinTech startup applying supercomputing to algorithmic trading. He has many years of industrial experience in C/C++ and Java/Python.

Mr. Richard

Mr. Richard is a software engineer at FAANG company with 10 years of tech lead experience. He has received BS and MS degrees from top technical universities in China and the US. Richard specializes in system design and UX design, and will teach students to master web design, JavaScript, animation and game design from scratch to advanced levels.


Mr. Nathan

Mr. Nathan holds a BS and MS in robotics engineering and computer science. He has extensive experience in professional robotics design and web development, and in addition has served as an instructor at ID Tech’s RoboCenters program. He’s also gained years of teaching experience through coaching several successful VEX robotics teams.


Math Teachers

Dr. Li

Dr. Li received his PHD in Mathematics from a top Ivy League university. Dr. Li has over 20 years of Quantitative Trading experience at a top Wall Street firm. He is an accomplished Olympiad math coach, with 10+ years of teaching experience.

Mr. Lou

Mr. Lou graduated from MIT with four degrees in physics and electrical engineering and is a recipient of the Goodwin Medal, MIT's highest award for excellence in teaching by a graduate student. Mr. Lou has 15 years of university teaching and private tutoring experience. Many students rated him as one of the best teachers of any subject they've ever had. Mr. Lou was a USAMO Qualifier, a USNCO Qualifier, and a USPhO Finalist. He specializes in AMC12/AIME/USAMO, USNCO, and USPhO competition training.

Mr. Tomas

Mr. Tomas graduated from top university major in Math and Computer science with full scholar. Currently working in top notch financial investment company with FLAG Top 4 intern experience. Mr. Tomas is 5xUSAMO qualifier, CHMMS/SMT top Ten, USACO Platinum Division with 4 years Instructor experience working in a top selective summer program in AIME and USACO training program and over 5 years extensive coaching experience in MathCounts/AMC/AIME.


Dr. Yang

Dr. Yang holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from a top Chinese university. He is currently a university professor with 15+ years teaching experience in machine learning and engineering applications of linear algebra. Mr. Yang also teaches advanced high school math courses (AP Calculus AB/BC, SAT/SATII Math), and specializes in competition math courses including AMC8/10/12/AIME.

Dr. Arman

Dr. Arman holds a PhD in Mathematics and serves as a professor at Armenia's top polytechnic university. Dr. Arman recently served as academic director at a popular US Academic Learning Center, and has many years of teaching experience in problem-solving acumen and competition experience to students in our AMC 8/10/12 and AIME courses.

Mr. Murat

Mr. Murat holds a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from Cornell University. Mr. Murat has been teaching advanced high school math for many years, achieving recognition for his diligence and enthusiasm for students, whether in his Algebra, Algebra II, or precalculus classes. Mr. Murat is extremely responsive, reliable, and patient with students, heading our subject-based and SAT Math courses.


AMC Instructors: Austin, Grant, Brian, Josh,Vishnu

These five instructors are all currently mathematics/computer science majors at Yale, and Princeton. They all have very similar backgrounds, such as: USAMO Qualifier, 3x+ AIME Qualifier, Captain of Magnet School Math Team, HMMT Top 10 Finishers, ARML Tiebreaker Round Finisher, and Participants in Prestigious Math Camps such as Ross and PROMYS. All have made perfect scores in the SAT I/SAT II Math and maintained a 4.0 GPA. All of these students have taught AMC and MathCounts extensively during their high school and university careers, and are extremely knowledgeable of the current MathCounts and AMC competition landscape including the most current strategies and tested topics.

Dr. Liang

Dr. Liang received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania focusing on algebraic number theory. He has made significant research contributions in mathematics and also has over 20 years of Quantitative Trading experience at Jump Trading, Citadel, and other top investment funds. He is an accomplished Olympiad math coach, training his students to accomplishments such as USAMO Top 150, Perfect AMC 10/12, and National MathCounts. Dr. Liang is an incredibly gifted mathematician and a phenomenal competitive math instructor, focusing on key concepts and teaching students to diligently and creatively solve the most difficult contest problems


English Teachers

Dr. James

Dr. James earned an American Studies Ph.D. from NYU and has lectured college level classes for over twenty-five years in subjects ranging from English Composition, American History, and Literature. He is a published English writing scholar and freelance writer who has written for several prominent literary publications and maintains board positions in various community organizations.

Prof. Ravi

Prof. Ravi holds a MFA in Creative Writing from a top private university. He currently is a writer-in-residence in one of the country's most prestigious writers associations and leads several of their writers' workshops. He has over 20 years’ experience in teaching writing and English literature at these workshops and universities.

Dr. Eric

Dr. Eric holds a PhD in English from UCLA. He has been teaching college level English Writing and Reading courses for more than 10 years. He has served as Writing Instructor at the John Hopkins CTY programs and many other highly selective summer writing camps.


Mr. Tal

Mr. Tal holds a Bachelors in English Literature from a top international university with first class honours. He's worked in various writing centers and specializes in tutoring reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. He is also a professional content editor and has worked on other projects such as short stories and memoirs. He brings exceptional enthusiasm and preparedness to every lesson.

Richard P

Mr. Richard graduated from Princeton University. He is passionate about reading and writing and has won several top collegiate and professional awards in creative writing, playwriting, and debate. Mr. Richard is a speech and debate coach, as well as a talented playwright and screen writer. His charismatic personality and excellent background help makes lessons extremely vibrant, intelligent, and inspiring.

Prof. Julie

Prof. Julie holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in English from prestigious universities. She currently teaches creative writing, advanced writing, literature, and composition at the state university. She was also recently invited to give a TEDx talk on project-based writing. Additionally, she teaches courses at local universities and writers workshops in New England.


Ms. Vanessa

Ms. Vanessa holds a Masters in English Education. She is a middle school teacher with more than 10 years of experience teaching in top public schools. She is a very patient and caring educator who is passionate about engaging students and inspiring their reading and writing.

Prof. Bob

Prof. Bob holds a BA in English Literature and a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing. He is currently teaching Freshman Composition and American Literature course as well as writing course in the Master’s program at a private university over 15 years. Prof. Bob is a writing professional with over 15+ years teaching experience diverse student populations including high school students, undergraduate and graduate school students.

Ms. Kieren

Ms.Kieren is an Ivy League graduate who currently serves as an interviewer and panelist. She is also a Professional Writer/Editor with 15 years of writing/editing teaching experience with college essays and applications, SAT Essay, etc. She specializes in helping students develop a persuasive writing style. Award-winning author, poet, screenwriter, speechwriter, children's book author, playwright, TV writer with a strong background in ALL areas of writing.


Ms. Eleni

Ms. Eleni holds a Bachelors in English and Masters in English Teaching. She also a well-trained educator with TEFL Certificate. She is a patient and caring educator, loves helping students explore literature through guided reading and brainstorming creative writing topics, and is extremely dedicated towards tailoring her lesson to inspire students for future success.

Ms. Elaine

Ms. Elaine, graduated with BA in English Literature and Masters in English Teaching. She has over 15 yrs teaching experience as high school teacher. Ms. Elaine teaches high school AP Language and Composition, having served on English Teacher Committee and represented her district's English Dept. She also teaches university level English reading and writing courses.


Social Study Teachers

Mr. Michael

Mr. Michael holds a BA in History and MA in History Education. He is a certified high school teacher in History and Government with over 15 years of teaching experience and several teaching awards. He is well-versed in all of the necessary curriculums and topics that students will encounter while preparing for world history exams and in general study. His lessons are witty, academically involving, and extremely effective for students looking to study world cultures, world history, Modern US History or American Government topics in greater depth.

Ms. Christina

Ms Christina holds a BA in Art History. She is a certified history teacher who currently teaches at a public middle school in New York. She is passionate about her lessons and students, incredibly well-versed in historical facts and resources, and deeply involved in many school clubs and student learning/enrichment events. She is also active in several historical and history teaching associations, and has served as a judge for the prestigious National History Day competitions.
